Hurricane season 2009 in Florida.

The general hurricane prediction for 2009 is 12 named tropical storms of which 6 storms could reach hurricane strength. Of these 6 storms could be 2 storms which might get strength of 3 or more and thus would be "major hurricanes".

The names of the storms for each year are announce in advance and as soon as a storm area is organized and a determined conditions are reached the storm gets his name.

If there is large collateral damage during a named storm then this name is eliminated from the list of storm name and no longer used.

The hurricane season officially begins on June, 1st each year and ends on November, 30th. The most storms according to past experience happen between August to October.
