President of the United States of America.

The Head of State and Government of the United States of America is the President. In the primaries for that office either party has choose their presidential candidate and the vice president and nominate them for the election in November of the election year.

In the final election the voters vote only among the top candidates of the parties. The winners of this election will be for 4 years the President of the United States. The reelection of the president is under a constitutional amendment from the year 1951 only once possible. This results in a presidential period of a maximum of 8 years.

At the same time with the President the Vice-President is elected. His term of office is also 4 years. After the 8-year presidency of his party he can be nominated as a candidate for president.

The Vice President is the Deputy President and in case of death of the elected President the Vice President takes immediately over the office after the swearing in.

The President of the United States has a considerable but not unlimited power:

• He has a right to submit proposals for new laws
• His veto stops bills of the Congress
• He is the commander in chief of the armed forces of the nation
• He has the right of appeal for federal judges at the Supreme Court

The President is the chief supervisor of all public administrations. Among these there are the ministries (departments), the independent President (Executive Office) and other independent federal agencies.

The responsibility for enforcing the law lays with the President the implementation and application of the laws is the task of the ministries. The Congress established the appropriate ministries for the respective national and international tasks.

The holders of the senior positions of these ministries will be appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate of the United States. These ministers are the group of advisers of the President - his Cabinet.

The Vice-President, the Cabinet and the heads of independent authorities have the task to support and to advise the President in his daily work. Which are the responsibilities and specific tasks in this connection is not defined by the Constitution.
