Up to 1971 in most states celebrated the birthday of Abraham Lincoln (12th of February) and all other states celebrated the birthday of George Washington (22nd of February), 1st President of the United States. With this special day of memorial the most important presidents of the United States should be honored. During the presidency of Richard Nixon in 1971 a national wide holiday was introduced. This holiday - President's Day - this has been fixed by the decision of the Government on 3rd Monday in February. This day is close to the actual birthday of George Washington so that this day is usually known as "Washington's Birthday".
