Downtown Fort Lauderdale you can find the Museum of Discovery and Science. This museum shows the information about Florida natural history from the exhibits of dinosaurs to technology of aircrafts.

At the entrance the visitor is introduced to the natural conditions of Florida. Passing the displayed mussels and the coastal geological model the visitors reached the trail through an artificial reef. On the outer side of the reef you can admire turtles and sea urchins in ponds. Alligators are also there. In further showcases there are a lot of snakes and spiders which are native to Florida. To touch and to get a closer look at the animals the museum’s caretaker pick it out of the water and show it to the observer.

Inside the reef many small and large aquariums are installed into the artificial reef. In these aquariums for example there are small sharks or crabs and many other species from the world under the surface.

The staircase in the gear leads visitors to a higher level of the reef. There is the Florida flora and fauna above the water displayed. There you can find bats and models of bears and deer.

The 2nd Level of the museum is devoted to viewing and testing. There are animated animals such as Nile crocodiles with a baby animal. In a separate exhibition area there are collected bones of dinosaurs and their petrified eggs shown.

In another area you can experience parts of flight technology by yourself. The visitor can feel how the air touches an airplane wing. In flight simulators everybody can make the experience how it is to fly a small airplane or an Airbus A380 aircraft.

Besides optical and magnetic experiences visitors can also attend a virtual interactive beach volleyball game.

For relaxation an IMAX theater offers daily changing films. You can buy and use the admission for the IMAX Theater separately from the visit of the museum.

The museum is accessible for wheelchairs and open daily: Monday to Saturday from 9 am till 5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm till 6 pm. The museum offers fun and entertainment for children and adults. A visit is recommended when you are in Fort Lauderdale.
