Hurricane
Season 2011 in Florida.
In last year too we had a relatively quiet Hurricane Season even when we
expected more activity. But we will not always be so lucky and we have to be
prepared for this case. For this year there is a much more active season
predicted. El Ninjo had a very strong influence on the weather patterns in
the last years. According to the expectations will this influence disappear
in this year for the near future.
For this year the prediction for the possible storm systems is from 12 up to
18 named tropical storms. The average is 11 tropical storms. It is expected
that 6 to 10 storms will have the ability to develop into Hurricanes. The
long time average is 6 Hurricanes.
From 3 up to 6 of these predicted storms can gain the strength of the
category 3 and more. These storms are “Major Hurricanes”.
The storm names are chosen in
advance for each year and each storm system gets its name as soon as it
becomes organized and reaches a specific strength. If there are huge
collateral damages during a named storm this storm name will be eliminate
from name list and will never be used again.
The Hurricane Season starts officially on June 1st every year and ends on
November 30th. The main season with the most likely storms is
according to the long time experience between August and October.
