Hand baggage when flying to Florida USA.

The airlines usually allow 1 piece of hand baggage per passenger. The usual size of such a bag is 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. The weight should not be more than 8 kg. The foldable clothes bags are also hand baggage.

All items of baggage which do not meet the above standard size are for safety reasons and the convenience of passengers have to be transported as cargo.

These things are allowed as hand baggage: 

            • Jewelry 
            • Medications 
            • Camera 
            • Laptop 
            • Cell phone 
            • MP3 Player 
            • Documents 
            • Musical instruments if the above dimensions are meet

You have to unpack the accompanying technical appliances at the security checkpoint. The technical appliances are individually X-rayed. This procedure should not spoil the quality of your films up to 1,000 ASA/31 DIN.

Since March 2008 are only 2 rechargeable lithium batteries in a plastic bag allowed in addition to batteries which are included or incorporated in the devices.

For in the hand baggage on board there are special limitations for toiletries in the form of liquids and jellies since the 6^th of November 2006 on all flights (domestic and international):

The individual containers should have a maximum capacity of 100 ml. This volume must be printed on the container. This means that if the container shows a printed volume of 200 ml and is already more than half empty then you are not allowed to put this container into your hand baggage.

All hand baggage liquid containers must be packed in a 1 liter capacity, resealable plastic bag. Per passenger is only 1 plastic bag allowed. This bag must be separately presented at the security check.

Medications and special food for babies for example which you need during the flight may be in addition and outside of the plastic bag container. Again these items have to be shown at the security control.

At the airport Purchased duty-free products may be transported in the aircraft cabin. These products have to be sealed in a transparent plastic bag with the appropriate proof of purchase (this must be dated from the current day). The duty-free shop's seal may be opened or damaged until the arrival at the destination airport.

If the attached label is damaged the duty-free goods will be confiscated from the security officials.

If you purchase tax-free items at the airport please note the relevant rules for the transport of these goods into the United States.

In addition to the above items you may keep in the cabin:

            • A small handbag or shoulder bag 
            • coat or jacket 
            • Reasonable amount of travel reading 
            • baby’s carry bag 
            • Walking aids 

The following things are prohibited in hand baggage. They are seized and disposed at the security checks:

            • Weapons and imitation of weapons 
            • Peak and sharp objects such as pocket knives and scissors 
            • blunt objects such as baseball bats
