In the United States of car fuel is not sold in liters but in gallons. A gallon is about 3.8 liters and costs currently $ 3.50 per gallon (11/2011). The price per gallon of gas is always shown at the gas station and can vary at each gas station even when the gas stations belong to the same a gas station chain, because there is no central a price-fixing on gas. Our advice: If you have enough gas in your car then it is better to drive along the main road and look for the cheapest gas station. Please note that in rural areas there are fewer gas stations available. You should for your own safety have always enough fuel in your tank when driving through the rural areas.
