Food culture in Florida USA.

On the topic food in America there is much to say. Because of the many different immigrant groups in each city you can taste the American Food and many other culinary delights.

The proximity to Cuba and the Caribbean you have the possibility to test the Cuban and Caribbean cuisine. In addition many restaurants offer fish and sea food in Florida. If you do not like fish you find typical American steak houses available at each street corner.

The beef in the steak house is highly recommended. There is often big and bold and comes from American cattle which live on huge pasture. They are not so cultivated than in Europe.

Another special feature is the salad. You get salad to each dinner which you do not have to pay separately! The salad portion is like a large salad plate in Germany.

You have to get accustomed to the size of the meals. They are a lot bigger than in Germany and this can easily lead to weight problems if you eat beside the main meals also coffee cakes and other sweets and candy.

The beverage for dinner is usually coffee or water as you like. It is customary that you pay only the first cup or glass of water. All subsequent refills at the table are often free of charge.

Of course you can also order wine and beer in restaurants. Wine is always served in glasses or in a bottle. But it may happen that in some restaurants if you order for several people that you get a great pitcher with several glasses. In this case you have to fill the beer into the glasses by yourself.
