Filling up in Florida, USA. 
During refueling remember the following special note: 

You can pay at a gas pump with either credit card or cash in the gas station store. If you want to pay by credit card you can directly plug the card into the pump and fuel. This is the easiest way and you can fill up your tank completely.

If you prefer cash payment, however, you have to go first inside the gas station shop and pay your desired amount in cash before the selected gas pump is release for refueling.

Disadvantage of this procedure is that the tank may not be completely filled up because the available capacity of the tank is difficult to estimate. If you have paid too much you have to get again inside the shop and pick up your money.

Even when fueling the tank you have to change your habits a little bit. In Germany you remove the fueling pistol and put it into the tank. At the American gas stations you have first to unlock the fueling mechanism after the removal of the fueling pistol. The fueling mechanism is the so-called "nozzle" - a bar under the fueling pistol – must be folded up and then the gasoline will flow into the tank. To stop the fueling process tank you have to reverse the process: first put the "nozzle" down and then put the fueling pistol into the mount.
