Epcot is 2.5-times larger as the Magic Kingdom and the largest of the Disney parks. All attractions are located in this large area and you must walk from one attraction to the other. The only transport within the park is the ferry on the lagoon. These boats drive every 20 minute between the docks of the different countries of the “World Show Case”. The name “Epcot” is an acronym. It stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (experimental model of a city of tomorrow). This park was planned as a vision of the future and a living dream of a high-tech livable city. This vision was not fully completed. Today the park is a mixture of the magic dreams of Disney and the real world. In addition to fantastic adventure rides there are very interesting information about plants, animals and technology. The Epcot Park is divided into two major sections: "Future World" and "World Show Case."
In the "Future World" you find our present knowledge in a variety of
business-sponsored exhibitions presented in an entertaining manner. The "Spaceship
Earth" tells the story of communication.
The original hard variant of the "Journey to Mars" is still for the
hard-cored space travelers available. For the motion sick people and
children the park offers a softer version of this travel. At the entrance of
the attraction there is an information board installed. Here the visitors
can inform themselves and decide which ride will be the best them. In the attraction of "imagination" the little dragon Figment tells the visitor interesting things about the five senses of human beings in his personal way and prepares for a visit in the 3D Theater "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" right next door. An attraction of the calmer kind is "The Sea with Nemo & Friends". There adults and children can flow through the underwater world of Nemo and all his friends in a shell.
The "World Show Case" the Epcot opens daily from 11 am while "Future World" starts already at 9 am welcoming its guests.
There are often in the front of the pavilions or on open places various artistic performances. For example Drummers of Japan near the Japanese Pavilion or in the open places marching bands from throughout the United States who play their favorite tunes. These shows vary according to park schedule and the visitor can find information about these shows in the day's schedule which is distributed at the entrance. In the evening there is an illumination and music event in the lagoon of the “World Show Case”. In the middle of the lagoon flows a globe. On the surface of this globe the human history is projected with lasers. In parallel with these laser images there are a fireworks and a music presentation. At the end of this tremendous presentation the globe opens like a lotus flower and a blazing gas flame is in the middle. The best view for this spectacle is if you are at the countries of Mexico, Japan and on the bridge of England. If you make this event to something very special then you rent a boat and anchor during the presentation under the bridge of England. In this case no other visitors can spoil the view towards the spectacle.
