There are no specific outstanding Easter activities here in Florida like they exist in New York and in Washington, DC. New York In New York there is on Easter Sunday each year the so called the Easter parade. This event goes back to the time when the people bought for the Easter new dresses and hats. On Easter Sunday they put on their new clothes for the first time and walked down on Fifth Avenue after the Easter service to present their new clothes. As a special highlight on this walk there is often presented striking and bizarre women’s hat creations. Motifs such as the Statue of Liberty on a hat are not unusual. Today is the Easter Parade on Fifth Avenue is professionally organized and accompanied by flower decorated carriages. Washington On Easter Monday there is the so-called "Easter Egg Roll" in the Garden of the White House. This tradition was introduced by the British people in the U.S. and is a reminder for the stone rolled away from Jesus' tomb on Easter Sunday.
The first "Egg Roll" goes back to the year 1810 as the wife of President
Madison had this idea. She invited children to come to this fun event on the
lawn in front of the Capitol. The eggs had to be rolled down the grass hill
in front of the government building with spoons. Each participant receives as a reminder to this day wooden egg which is signed by the President and his wife. There are so many people who want to attend this event so that admission is only possible with tickets. The tickets can be picked up from 7 am on Easter Monday as long as stocks last. Adults are only allowed when they are in the company of children. If you are in Florida for Easter perhaps you have the possibility to make a detour to the above mentioned cities.
