The drinking water in the United States is just like in Germany, sometimes more or less tasty. In contrast to Germany, the drinking water in the U.S. often much more chlorinated. Sometimes a very strong chlorine smell is noted and may strongly destroy the appetite for this water. As an alternative we recommend the offered drinking water at the supermarkets. This water is bottled directly at the source and tastes very good. The water is available in different pack sizes from one liter up to a gallon which is round about 3.6 liters. The purchase of a gallon canister is advantageous because it often is cheaper and offers a water pouring valve so that you can fill it easily into jars and bottles.
