Coral Castle, Florida, USA. The builder of this monument was Edward Leedskalpin a native Latvian who came from Europe at the beginning of the 20th Century into the New World. When he was 26-year old he felt in love to a girl which was10 years younger than he. One day before their planned wedding his bride left him. This deep disappointment did not let him go and he started to build a monument for his lost love - the Coral Castle. The Coral Castle is a large sculpture which is built in the form of a castle under the stars. The motifs for this sculpture are borrowed from the astronomy and the center piece of this monument is a table in the shape of a heart in memory of his beloved bride.
Originally the Coral Castle was located in Florida City south of Miami. As Leedskalpin felt disturbed in his work by the course of road in 1936 he moved 10 km further south to Homestead. Because he was afraid of curious people he made the moving mostly at night with a tractor without any help from others. He needed 3 years for this moving.
