Boca Raton, Florida United States of America. Boca Raton is a cosmopolitan city, in the south of West Palm Beach County. The city is a planned city of architect Addison Mizner. His plan was to construct Boca Raton a recreation city, as a brochure from the year 1925 says. Today the most important branch of the city is computer and high-tech industry. The big plan of Mizner was held with the real estate crash in 1926 and came to an abrupt end. The city fell for the next few years into an economic deep sleep. The prestige object for Mizner was the Cloister Inn luxury hotel in the Spanish style. Today this building is a part of the Boca Raton Resort and Club. This club is private and the public is not allowed. To show part of the building the public the Historical Society of Boca Raton arranges once a week visiting tours. A lot of Mizner's buildings are part of Mizner Park and Royal Palm Plaza. It is a large palm-lined square, around which exclusive boutiques and galleries that have been established. The visitor has free parking in the attached parking garage. Close to the Mizner Park, you will find the Town Hall. You can get a lot of information about the history of the city. This information is presented as part of an exhibition. There you also find the Historical Society, who organized the visit to the Cloister Inn.
A tip for art enthusiasts is the Boca Raton Museum of Art. This museum presents works from Degas, Picasso and Matisse. If you are more interested in comics you have to go the International Museum of Cartoon. There are over 150,000 pieces from the 18th Century up to Spider man displayed. Nature interested people will all they need in the nature Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. Here you can find out information about the local flora and fauna. You can check your new knowledge on a nature trail through the mangrove swamps to a lookout tower with a great view over the surroundings. The beach and sun-runner will find a suitable terrain in the Spanish River Park and the Red Reef Park.
