Art
Deco Festival at Miami Beach - Miami Beach
Each year at the 3rd Weekend in January there
is the Art Deco Festival in Miami Beach. This year it was again from the 18th
to the 20th of January. These days the promenade at the southern
part of Miami Beach is celebrating.
The whole area of Ocean Drive between the 5th
and 15th Street was blocked to traffic and it was party the whole time. The
motto of this year's event was "Anything Goes: Art Deco Taps its Toes".
The chosen theme was homage to the Broadway
musicals of the 30 'and 40' years. As a demonstration of that time many old,
classic cars were issued on the boulevard. The visitors rarely knew the most
models from own life experience but perhaps they knew them from Hollywood
productions.
Inside the festival area there were street
artists who entertained many visitors with their funs and tricks. There were
also many attractions for the children to entertain them. The bands at the
promenade played for the dancers who were dancing on the grass at the Ocean
Drive. The bands transformed this area especially in the evening hours into
one big party place.
Who was not interested in music and
dancing had the opportunity to stroll along the many jewelry, fashion and
art stalls and spend money or simply sit on the terrace of the restaurants
and cafés along the Ocean Drive and watch.
