Alcohol and spirits in Florida USA.

The Americans have a strange relationship to alcohol and spirits. In their opinion alcohol is a drug and for this reason there is a hard penalty imposed if a driver drinks alcohol and is encountered by the police or Highway Patrol.

At a police control it is sufficient if an opened bottle of alcoholic beverages is found in the car or shown in public. For this reason most of the stores which sell alcohol or spirits pack the bottles always in an opaque paper bag.

Alcoholic beverages such as beer and wine you can buy in supermarkets. Liqueurs or other hard spirits can only be bought in special shops because the sale of these products has strict legal rules. Shops which these products you acknowledge with the term "liquor" or "spirits."

It is advised to avoid the consumption of alcohol or beer in the public. Even the drinking from a wrapped bottle does not make any sense because every American knows what this behavior means.

The wine and beer consumption in bars and restaurants is allowed but you should determine a non-drunk driver who takes you home just like in Germany.

Another very strict legal point is that you are not allowed to purchase and consume alcohol under the age of 21 in the United States. Therefore it may be that you have to show your ID in bars and shows if you have a very youthful appearance.
