Independence Day in Florida, USA, The most important holiday of the Americans is the 4th of July - Independence Day or Fourth of July -. In 1776 the 13 English colonies separated with the Declaration of Independence and declared formally their independence from the English crown and formed a new independent nation. Since the discovery of the colonization of America and the colonies were loyal to England and fought together with the Crown against the French in the 7-year-old war. After the war the British tried to fill their empty state books by introducing new taxes. For this reason they collected various taxes since 1763. Since 1767 there was an import tax on tea which became more and more an economic pressure element towards the colonies. In December 1773 the anger in the colonies exploded in the Boston Tea Party. The inhabitants of Boston dressed as Indians stormed the ships of the English Tea Trading Company and threw the load of tea overboard into the Boston harbor. To demonstrate his power King George III sent soldiers who should proceed against the troublemakers. There were constant clashes between the British and the colonists and one of the main issues in this conflict was whether the English crown had the right to levy taxes without representation of the colonies in the House of Parliament. This slogan was common at that time: "No taxation without representation."
In September 1774 the 1st Draft of the Declaration of
Independence already created but not yet handed over. The violent clashes
between England and the colonies escalated rapidly in 1775 and led to the
Revolutionary War. On the side of the colonies George Washington was the
commander. He later became the 1st President of the newly formed
nation. In the Declaration of Independence the Founding Fathers described under what natural conditions the people have the only right to reject an existing government and take a new government. They said the infringements of the English crown were such natural conditions and so the only consequence was the secession and independence from England. The 4th of July is already celebrated since 1776 every year. This day is since 1941 an officially state wide holiday. Until that time each state has its own responsibility to decide whether the 4th of July is an official holiday or not.
